TOPIC: Understanding the Stages of Alzheimer’s Disease and Opportunities for Prevention
Alzheimer's disease -- often called "the long good-bye" -- can last more than a decade. Dr. Stephen Salloway shall discuss with us the time course and features of the preclinical, mildly symptomatic, and dementia phases of Alzheimer’s Disease. Participants will become familiar with new approaches for preventing Alzheimer’s disease and how they can facilitate this process.
SPEAKER:
Stephen Salloway, MD, MS, is Director of Neurology and the Memory and Aging Program at Butler Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, and Professor of Clinical Neurosciences and Psychiatry at Brown Medical School. He is the Director of the Brown Combined Residency in Neurology and Psychiatry and Co-Director of the National Institute on Aging-sponsored Brown Dementia Research Fellowship Program.
